Tenancy Deposit Scheme
Information for tenants - Assured Shorthold Tenancy only
All tenancy deposits taken by The Letting People branches are registered with the Deposit Protection Service (DPS).
In some circumstances the landlord may wish to take and register your deposit. If so, the tenancy deposit arrangements will be dependant on the landlords preferred tenancy deposit scheme, and you should refer to the prescribed information issed to you by your Landlord.
For deposits taken and registered by The Letting People the following terms apply to deposit registration:
The Deposit will be protected by The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of The DPS. The Terms and Conditions and alternative dispute resolution rules governing the protection of the Deposit, including the repayment process, can be found at www.depositprotection.com.
The Letting People use the Deposit Protection Service custodial scheme and therefore your actual tenancy deposit payment is held by The Deposit Protection Service. Any repayment of your deposit due to you is required to be made to you by The Deposit Protection Service. The Letting People do not make repayments of tenancy deposits to you.

For Let and Rent collection or Let and Managed tenancies the following additional information will apply
IMPORTANT: All tenancy agreements are between the Landlord and Tenant. In the event that a landlord deposit claim has been made, and you do not agree to the proposed settlement, please notify your The letting People branch as soon as possible with any relevant details. The Letting People only provide information as, when, or if available, and do not operate a dispute resolution scheme to resolve tenant disputes with landlord deposit claims. Both parties to the dispute i.e.The Landlord and Tenant, wishing to resolve a deposit dispute must refer to The Deposit Protection Scheme Terms and Conditions.
The full terms and conditions of the tenancy deposit scheme at the date of your tenancy agreement are attached to your tenancy agreement. Please contact the DPS directly for updates to their terms and conditions.
